White spot disease is among the most frequent in Brazil, and may cause losses in productivity. Among the measures of control of these diseases, the application of fungicides can provide satisfactory results. However, there are still doubts about the resistance of the various cultivars, the effectiveness of different chemical products on the market and also about the appropriate time for applying them. In this context, the objective of this work is to evaluate the effect of the application of the fungicides strobilurin (azoxystrobin) and dithiocarbamate (mancozeb), in different phenological stages, to control the white spot in corn. The experiments were conducted in two different locations (Marechal Cândido Rondon and Sertanópolis, PR). Two susceptible hybrids, DKB230PRO3 and DKB290PRO3, were used with the combination of fungicides for the control of diseases. The experimental design was a randomized block with 4 replicates. Three applications of fungicide were performed, totaling 5 treatments and the evaluations were carried out 10 days after each application, beyond a last evaluation in the stage of physiological maturity. The severity of the diseases was evaluated by the quantification of the injured leaf area in 10 plants per plot, based on a scale of notes. After obtaining the scores in the evaluations of the affected areas, the evolution of the disease was calculated by calculating the Area Below the Progression of Disease Curve – AACPD, analysis of variance and the means test. The results showed that the applications of the fungicides in stages V8 and VT helped in better control of the diseases. Under these conditions, the chemical groups used provided good control of the disease compared to the untreated control, showing the potential of the chemical agents analyzed. The application of the fungicides resulted in higher productivity, compared to the untreated control.
